Britt Reid accident victim still unconscious when GoFundMe exceeds $ 300,000

A fundraising campaign for the 5-year-old girl seriously injured in an accident involving the son of Kansas City Chief Coach Andy Reid has already earned more than $ 300,000 – while the girl continues to hold on to life.

“Ariel remains in the hospital in critical condition and is not awake,” wrote the girl’s aunt, Tiffany Verhulst, on the GoFundMe page. “No progress updates so far.”

“Thank you to everyone who donated to support the family at this difficult time,” she wrote. “We are very grateful.”

Britt Reid, the coach’s son and an assistant to the Chiefs, was driving a white Dodge Ram near the team’s training facility last week when he crashed into a Chevrolet Traverse that had pulled up onto the I-435 access ramp.

Ariel’s mother said she stopped to help a cousin who was out of gas.

A moving photo of the girl shows her in a Missouri hospital with bandages and medical tubes. The family said she suffered from brain swelling and has not yet woken up.

Britt Reid reportedly told the police that he drank two or three drinks and took the Adderall medication.

Verhulst created the fundraising page over the weekend and raised more than $ 55,000 in 15 hours. She did not respond to a message asking for comment on Monday.

As of Monday, the page had exceeded its target of $ 100,000, with $ 307,000 in donations from almost 8,000 people.

Britt Reid, 35, was not left out on Sunday when the Chiefs were defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31 to 9 in the Super Bowl, but was supposedly in the hospital.
