Last Friday, FX released a new documentary called Britney Framing, which details the facts, theories and events surrounding Britney Spearsthe ongoing battle for guardianship with your father, Jamie Spears.
When examining the legal arrangement established in 2008 – which grants Jamie the right to manage his daughter’s career, personal life and finances – the film also takes a closer look at the fan-led #FreeBritney movement, the treatment of the pop icon through the media and more. To create the documentary, New York Times producers gathered old clips and videos along with comments from several sources, including Britney’s former assistant, Felicia Bulotta, her former lawyer Adam Streisand and cameraman Daniel Ramos (whose car she broke with an umbrella in 2007 after her cousin repeatedly asked him to stop recording Britney and he didn’t). Notably absent from the source list, however, is Britney herself, which raises questions about the pop icon’s involvement in the project.
As noted at the end of the documentary, The times tried to contact Britney’s team to request their participation and comments on the film. But back when The times was creating the film, it was unclear whether Britney “received the orders”, especially given Jamie’s supposed control over Britney’s image and career.
About that, The times also tried to get comments from the following people in Britney’s life, but her representatives allegedly did not respond and / or refused requests for interviews on camera: Jamie (Britney’s father), Lynne Spears (Britney’s mother), Jamie Lynn Spears (Britney’s sister), Bryan Spears (Britney’s brother), Andrew Wallet (Britney’s former co-conservative), Samuel D. Ingham III (Britney’s attorney), and Sam Lutfi (Britney’s former manager).
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the documentary director, Samantha Stark, said she felt a “great ethical conflict” knowing that Britney would not be able to tell her side of the story – but at the same time, she reiterated that the production team tried several times to get Britney’s perspective.
“Most of the time as The New York Times, if I want to interview someone who is famous, I would call your advertiser and say, ‘Can you send this request to that person?’ “Samantha told the vehicle.” Often, the person reviews and delivers it back to the advertiser. But we don’t know if that happened. “
She continued, “We passed these usual places and we also passed people who know her or know people who know her to receive requests. So we asked in a number of different ways, but it is still unclear whether she definitely understood them.”
Samantha’s team even tried to send a message to Britney on social media to get his attention, but to no avail.
“Since Britney has such a narrow circle around her, partly because of guardianship – or is it allowed to be that way because of guardianship – journalists have not really been able to interview her freely. We, as The New York Times, we didn’t interview her, because we want to be able to do that freely, without anyone trying to adjust what she says or anything, “explained Samantha.” It looks like you can’t ask Britney.
Unfortunately, Britney was not entirely silent about the film. Days after the launch of Britney Framing, the singer shared a video of herself singing her hit “Toxic” three years ago. “I will always love being on stage … but I am taking the time to learn and be a normal person … I just love to enjoy the basics of daily life !!!!”, she tweeted.
At the a follow-up tweet, Britney wrote: “Each person has their own story and their opinion about other people’s stories !!!! We all have so many different and brilliant lives !!! Remember, no matter what we think we know about the life of one person, it’s nothing compared to the real person who lives behind the lens !!!! “

Meanwhile, Britney’s boyfriend four years ago, Sam Asghari, is at your side one hundred percent.
“I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half and I will continue to support her in her dreams and in creating the future she wants and deserves,” he told People. “I am grateful for all the love and support she is receiving from her fans around the world, and I am looking forward to a normal and incredible future together.”
As it stands, Jamie is listed as a co-conservator of Britney’s estate alongside the trust company Bessemer Trust. The Britney guardianship case returned to court on Thursday. While there, a judge decided to retain the Bessemer Trust as a co-conservator of Britney’s estate and dismissed Jamie’s objections to sharing the guardianship responsibilities. According to NBC News, both the Bessemer Trust and Jamie must now work together on a budget and investment proposal for Britney’s equity. Another hearing is scheduled to take place next month.
