She said: ‘I went through a phase just before Bridgerton, where there were a lot of ups and downs and rejection.

‘Things started to change for me when I was like,’ I’m not going to audition and beg for a job ‘.

She added: ‘There is something to be said about playing hard in these situations.’

Phoebe impressed millions of fans like Daphne, who fell in love and married the Duke of Hastings in the Netflix drama.

But she recently stated that dating in the 19th century was easier than in modern times, as men in the past were more romantic and were not distracted by dating apps or social media.

She noted that men in the past were more likely to make big romantic gestures to declare how they felt, adding: ‘The problem today is that there is no social etiquette.’

She told the Daily Star: ‘The problem today is that there is no social etiquette. If someone liked you back then, they came with a big bouquet of flowers, so you knew where you were.

The beauty added that boys in Bridgerton ‘s time “had to work for it”.

However, Phoebe noticed that there were advantages to dating in modern times, as she noticed her character’s former suitor Nigel Berbrooker.

She added: ‘If there’s a Nigel today, I don’t have to pat myself. I can only say, ‘I’m fine, thanks.’

Meanwhile, Phoebe, who plays the main character in the extremely popular Regency drama, recently said that the ‘most difficult scene to film’ was a solo sexual act in which she had to perform in order to have an orgasm.

The show explores the fiery relationship between Phoebe’s character and the dashing Duke of Hastings (played by Regé-Jean Page), with their honeymoon sex scenes dominating the show’s intermediate episodes.

Speaking in a new interview for Glamor, Phoebe openly revealed the difficulties the actors faced in filming the hottest scenes, especially when it came to exploring her character’s emerging sexuality.

‘There is not much sexuality there. It’s much more of a masculine look, ‘Phoebe told Glamor. ‘I wanted to do [my character] feel modern and have sexual desires, like women, and have a lot going on that is not superficial. ‘

She remembers a specific scene that required her character to masturbate, saying it was ‘the most difficult scene’ to shoot.

‘The stage instructions are very specific: you have to [perform having] an orgasm. It is a difficult thing to rehearse, which means it is not. Just do it, ‘she said.

“It says something because there were a lot of scenes that were difficult to shoot. You feel very vulnerable in these scenes. ‘
