‘Bridgerton’ will reach 63 million families, says Netflix

Lady Whistledown has her title for tomorrow. If TVs and iPads existed during the Regency, of course.

Netflix tweeted on Monday night that Bridgerton – his adaptation of Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels, which was created for TV by Chris Van Dusen and executive produced by Shondaland of Shonda Rhimes – was designed to be sampled by more than 63 million families * in the first four weeks of release. If true, it would make the sumptuous and rrrribald! period drama, the fifth largest * original Netflix series to date (ago The magician Season 1, Weird stuff Session 3, Money Heist Part 4 and Tiger King)

Add to that the 44 million homes designed for the sample of Robert Rodriguez We can be heroes film (which has just received a sequel order), and Netflix claims (without independent verification, it should be noted) its “biggest week of Christmas and New Year viewing ever.”

*The numbers that Netflix reports are based on subscribers who have watched at least two minutes of certain content.

The undeniable success of the critic and the valorization of the pop culture of Bridgerton, which debuted eight episodes on Christmas Day, comes shortly after Netflix declared a decisive checkmate with its acclaimed Thanksgiving release, The Queen’s Gambit, which was sampled by 62 million families in its first 28 days – making it the “largest streaming series scripted by the streaming giant to date”.
