Bridgerton could probably go from an overnight sensation to an eight-season season, according to the creator of Netflix’s hit.

The series debuted on Christmas Day and remained at number one on Netflix’s most-watched list for the past two weeks, proving to be a huge success.

And Chris Van Dusen, the showrunner, said he could have a very long life.

Speaking to Collider this weekend, he said: ‘Being a family of eight children and eight books, I would love to be able to focus and really tell stories and love stories to all the Bridgerton brothers. For each character, for sure. I would love to. ‘

He explained that the first season was “mostly about Daphne and her love story with Simon”, but that there is much more to investigate.

The show is based on Bridgerton novels by Julia Quinn – the second called The Viscount Who Loved Me.

The second book follows Daphne Bridgerton’s older brother, Anthony, who is looking for a wife.

Julia Quinn refers to her sequential books as ‘second epilogues’.

They are the duke and I, the viscount who loved me, an offer from a gentleman, Mr. Bridgerton romantic, to Sir Phillip, with love, when he was mean, it was in his kiss and on the way to the wedding.
