Regé-Jean Page came to play – and burn – in his first Saturday Night Live presenting show. The scape Bridgerton The star capitalized on the success of the Netflix blockbuster period novel, which is officially the most successful show in the history of the streaming service, with a lively sketch comedy debut that had viewers applauding and hearts fluttering. And the British-Zimbabwean actor leaned towards his sex symbol status. “People associate me with a display of sensual, burning smoke,” he said in his monologue, which was often interrupted by the passionate applause of devout fans. “But I guarantee you, I’m just a normal guy.” Of course … a normal guy who knows how to deftly seduce the camera.
Page was accompanied on stage by her “personal contacts” Aidy Bryant and Ego Nwodim, as well as Chloe Fineman, who arrived in her best regency era to interpret her Bridgerton co-leader – and supposed love interest in real life – Phoebe Dynevor. And artists could not hide their own love for the sullen and handsome duke that he plays on TV, although he insisted otherwise. “I’m nothing like my character – I’m actually quite shy,” said Page, just before doing another fiery pose. SNL band increased the sexy music.
Bryant and Nwodim continued to quote their favorite scenes from the series … most of which featured the presenter and “extremely hot man of sex” in various stages of nudity. And, once again, the audience expressed their extreme gratitude for their commitment to the role. Page returned them with a final touch of romantic touch, singing the Righteous Brothers’ favorite, “Unchained Melody”, with Ghost-energy level. “I’m happy to play the Duke: I’ve been around for some time,” said Page later. “I was at Roots, I made high-level lawyers. However, somehow, people want me to be that guy who says, ‘I burn for you.’ “After she found her voice again, Fineman spoke to the Studio 8H audience saying,” Yes, I mean, why would anyone want you what? “
It’s safe to say that Twitter was vibrating a lot with Page’s energy.
And the love for Page did not dissipate after that latent monologue: many noticed how the SNL the writing team gave him several opportunities to show his reach as well as being the most handsome guy in the room. In fact, the mandatory Bridgerton the sketch was saved for the end of the show … which was good, since it was also the weakest skit of the night. Whether he was singing sea slums, wearing face shield or talking about Taylor Swift, Page had the audience in the palm of his hand. After tonight, his career is officially on fire.
I’m ready for Regé-Jean Page to get a role for Jack Sparrow after that slum sketch of the sea. Or just make Bridgerton become Pirates of the Caribbean #SNL
