While the buzz revolves around which characters in Season 2 of Bridgerton will focus on, and if producers will actually shoot new parcels in March, star Phoebe Dynevor has doubts about how COVID security protocols can alter logistics.
“I can’t imagine how it would be possible to shoot in these circumstances,” Dynevor, who plays Daphne in the hit series, told our sister site Deadline. Netflix has not officially announced a renewal, although it is almost certain. “There are so many extras and so many members of the team, and it’s a very intimate show. It just baffles me how we would film it under COVID rules, unless there was a vaccine before.
One of the biggest streamer releases to date, Bridgerton has been viewed by 63 million projected households and is the inaugural series of the Shondaland / Netflix agreement by Shonda Rhimes. Showrunner Chris Van Dusen created the exuberant and racially inclusive drama of the Regency era, which is based on author Julia Quinn’s widely popular book series.
Production in BridgertonThe eight-episode season of the first year came to an end this time last year, just before the coronavirus pandemic ended and eventually changed the way television programs and films are being run now. But given how sexy and sensual this soap offering is, one can understand Dynevor’s concerns.
For example, the fiery love scenes between Daphne and Rege-Jean Page’s Duke of Hastings took six weeks to choreograph, she says. Page and Dynevor worked with an intimacy coordinator, and the actress says her chemistry couldn’t have flourished under face shields and masks.
