Let’s be honest, season 1 Bridgerton it passed VERY quickly. I know it just fell on December 25th, and it gave us eight incredible episodes of hot 19th century English romance, but, like, I could have watched at least eight more of just Eloise investigating Lady Whistledown alone. So, if you’re also looking forward to a second season, like tomorrow, here are all the details we know Bridgerton season 2 to help you in the meantime. I think Lady Whistledown is not the only one with insider information here!

Has season 2 been confirmed yet?
Unfortunately not. The show has not yet been officially renewed by Netflix or Shondaland, but don’t worry too much because all signs point to a new season. In February, the development of a second season of Bridgerton was reported to be scheduled for the summer of 2020, but after the coronavirus hit, it got things out of the way. But ProductionWeekly recently listed the second season of Bridgerton as being scheduled to start shooting in Uxbridge, England in March 2021, so keep those fingers crossed, guys!
Will the cast be the same?
Yes and no. Obviously, the Bridgerton family would be the main focus of the season (the show It’s after all), so we can expect to see these familiar faces back on our screens. And we would almost definitely have some appearances by quirky side characters like the Featheringtons. In fact, Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, said recently in an interview with Radio Times that she would love to come back for a second season.
“I would love to take this journey with her, to see how she has changed,” she said. “I would love to come back because I feel like we’ve just scratched the surface. And because there is such a huge cast on this show, there are so many more of all the characters. “
And if the second season comes after the second book of Bridgerton series, we should expect some new main characters, the most important of which are sisters Kate and Edwina Sheffield, who play a BIG role in this season’s love story. There have been no casting calls announced for these roles yet, but you can leave it to Netflix to pick the perfect women for the roles.
So, what exactly would the second season be about?
As you probably remember, the first season was all about the love story of Daphne and Simon, hot, extremely complicated, from friends to lovers. And like you Besides that probably remember, Anthony, the oldest of the Bridgerton children, spent most of last season being a great female man. Well, he’s now 29 and finally decided that he needs to choose a wife and have an heir. So, if the story follows the books, the second season will be all about your love story. “With whom?” you can ask. Read below for spoilers.
Are there spoilers already?
So-so! All you really need to do is read the book, The viscount who loved me, and you will have a good idea of how things are going to end for dear old Anthony. But for those who don’t want to spend a few days reading the entire book, here’s the essence of what happens. WARNING: spoilers ahead.
As I said, the second book is about Anthony Bridgerton’s love story, and let me tell you now, it’s a juicy book. Basically, Anthony knows he needs to find his wife, but, fearing he will die young as his father died, he has no intention of falling in love. So, he wants someone who checks all the boxes to be a good wife, but not someone he’s going to be crazy about, you know? Type: Edwina Sheffield. She is perfect, except for one small problem: her sister, Kate, really hates Anthony’s womanizer and vows to prevent her only sister from marrying him.
So Anthony does what any 19th century viscount would do and sets out to win Kate’s approval. He struggles and manages to turn Kate from enemy to friend. But Kate soon finds herself feeling all kinds of heat and uncomfortable after her interactions (in a good way). And it turns out that Anthony feels the same way about her, and after they share a very scandalous kiss, they are forced to get married (sounds familiar?) and end up in an unplanned wedding. There is still a lot of tension and ups and downs, but Anthony ends up living much longer than he thought and they have four children together.
Cosmopolitan will update this post as soon as more news about the second season becomes available.
