The “exciting news” about Bridgerton that Netflix sparked on Tuesday came true this morning with the long-awaited renewal of season two. In the style of the Shondaland Regency drama series, created by Chris Van Dusen, the pickup was announced by none other than the series’ powerful narrator, Lady Whistledown, voiced on the show by Julie Andrews.
The special edition of Lady Whistledown’s Society Paper (you can read below) confirmed what has been speculated for weeks, that Season 2 will chronicle the search for a suitable marriage for Bridgerton older brother Anthony, played by Jonathan Bailey , as narrated in Julia Quinn’s second book Bridgerton Series, The viscount who loved me.

The gossip sheet also confirmed that Season 2 will begin filming this spring in the UK.
“The incomparable cast of Bridgerton will return to production in the spring of 2021, ”said the pamphlet, suggesting that the entire cast of Season 1 will be back, although the involvement of some is likely to be reduced.
The cast is currently underway for several new roles, most notably the female romantic protagonist opposite Anthony Bridgerton in The viscount who loved me, Kate Sheffield.
