In case you SOME LOSE, Shonda Rhimes’ Bridgerton that’s all anyone can say, and if you have loins, the name Regé-Jean Page should sound familiar to you.
I’m not the only one who is thirsty for the very fictional Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings …
Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, King of the pullout game, Protector of all WAPs, Backbreaker and Defender of self-pleasure … for a long time he reigns! #Bridgerton
… but I’m also here to say that I’ve been thirsting for Regé for some years now, ever since he appeared in Shonda’s short To the people:
ABC
Wow, chile … having that face adorning my office door is what I think of when I’m alone.
BUT, I’m getting ahead of myself! Let’s start from the BEGINNING of Regé’s journey:
Regé was born in Zimbabwe and moved to London to study – that delicious accent you heard in Bridgerton it was au naturel, baby:
Acting was not Regé’s first passion! He was initially interested in studying sound engineering and then kind of fell for it thanks to his time at the National Youth Theater:
Regé graduated from Drama Center London in 2013, and if that name sounds familiar to you, it’s because your list of esteemed alumni includes (but is not limited to): Pierce Brosnan, Gemma Chan, Luke Evans, Emilia Clarke, Gwendoline Christie, and Colin Firth!
At the beginning of his career, Regé had a brief – that is, without credits – passage in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part I and appeared in two episodes of Fresh meat:
HOWEVER, your big break was in the History Channel remake of the iconic 1977 miniseries Roots, where he played Chicken George:
This brings us to when Regé and I first met, in Shonda Rhimes’ gone-too-early To the people, where he played Leonard Knox, the promoter you hated to love:
And now, it is 2021, a few weeks later, not one, but TWO Regé projects have blessed our canvases. There was Sylvie’s love, where he played the love interest of Aja Naomi King (another student of Shonda !!) on the screen, Chico.
And then, of course, there is your role in Bridgerton, which I can spend days talking about.
Which keeps us up to date! I can’t wait to see Regé’s next star – plus Bridgerton Season 2, of course.
