Monday night brought the news that Brian Schottenheimer will join the Jaguars coaching staff in the 2021 season and Tuesday morning brought more information about the role he will have on Urban Meyer’s team.
The initial report indicated that Schottenheimer will be the coordinator of the team’s passing game. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that he also be delivering the responsibilities of the coach of defenders.
If all goes as expected, it sets Schottenheimer to play a big role in developing Trevor Lawrence’s first overall choice at the professional level.
Schottenheimer has spent the past three years as the Seahawks’ offensive coordinator. He will work with his predecessor on that job with the Jaguars, as Darrell Bevell has the job of coordinating in Jacksonville.
