Brendan Fraser will play the 600-pound inmate in Darren Aronofsky’s ‘The Whale’: report

Brendan Fraser is preparing for his last role.

The 52-year-old singer joined director Darren Aronofsky to star as a “morbidly obese inmate” in “The Whale”, Variety reported on Tuesday.

The film, an adaptation of Samuel D. Hunter’s play, focuses on a 270-pound middle-aged man named Charlie who is trying to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter after he left his family for a gay lover. After his partner passed away, Charlie started to compulsively eat to deal with his pain.

According to the vehicle, “The Whale” was critically acclaimed when it made its Broadway debut in 2012. He won the Drama Desk Award and the Lucille Lortel Award for best play.

This will be Aronofsky’s first film since 2017, “Mother!” starring Jennifer Lawrence, a commercial bomb. However, Aronofsky is also known for his other celebrated works, such as “Requiem for a Dream” in 2000 and “Black Swan” in 2010.

In 2018, Fraser told GQ that Philip Berk, former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, grabbed him from behind in 2003. The actor admitted that the incident “made me back up. It made me feel like a recluse”.

Fraser also told the vehicle that the HFPA tried to get him to sign an agreement stating that he was joking about his claim. Berk said Fraser’s version of the incident was “total fabrication”.

After the report, HFPA said it investigated Fraser’s complaint.

“[W]”We conducted an internal review and then assumed responsibility for ordering an independent investigation into the matter to ensure impartiality,” said the statement. “We shared the results of this investigation with Mr. Fraser, and again we apologize, but we also convey our need to accept the investigation’s conclusion that the exchange was not an intentional sexual advance.”

The star of “The Mummy” also told the channel that doing his own stunts over the years has cost his body a lot.

“I think I was probably trying too hard in a way that is destructive,” recalled Fraser. “At the time I made the third ‘mommy’ movie in China [in 2008] I was put together with tape and ice … I was building an exoskeleton for me daily. “
