Much like his companions of the millennium generation (who may or may not also technically be over 100 years old due to the sleep of death induced by Calamity), Breath of the WildLink dreams of owning a home. Unlike the rest of us, he can actually achieve that goal. There is only one problem: the house is bad. Between the initial purchase and the upgrades, it costs 4,400 rupees and turns out to be little more than a glorified storage unit. Thank goodness for a new mod that slightly adorns the place.
Modder Waikuteru’s “House Enhancements” mod does exactly what it says on the tin, adding a stable, a fishing pond, a cooking nook, a better bed that gives you extra hearts when you wake up and your own cucco friend from whom you can extract eggs. There are also fun new decorations, including concept art on the walls, and you can access them at any time with a personalized distortion point (which, in a smart twist, automatically removes bad weather whenever you use it).
“This mod re-imagines having a home in BotW to make it a worthwhile purchase, something you want to use regularly, all the time, while maintaining the original game feel and game balance, ” Waikuteru wrote in the description of a video on YouTube.
It’s a solid start – functionality that, frankly, should have been in the game from the start. That said, I will not rest until I am able to tame all of Hyrule’s dogs, when they will then live in the fields around my house and live in a state of perpetual happiness. If modders cannot do this, consider it a demand for Breath of the Wild 2. If that fails, at least let me pet you!
