As promised when Disney announced the end of free MagicBands for resort hotel guests, Disney will soon be launching a new theme park entry option and more: Disney MagicMobile Service.

Launched in stages from the end of this year, the Disney MagicMobile service is a convenient, contactless way to access MagicBand features, such as entry to theme parks, through your iPhone, Apple Watch or other smart device. Visitors will be able to create a Disney MagicMobile pass through the My Disney Experience app and add it to the digital wallet of their smart devices. Most features will be available just by holding your smart device close to an access point, just as you do with a MagicBand. The Disney MagicMobile service and its features will launch on Apple devices first.

Guests can choose to use the Disney MagicMobile or MagicBand service. Guests can even use both and switch between the two for greater flexibility.

Disney has made it clear that it is not discontinuing MagicBands, as it said it will soon also introduce more MagicBands in new colors and designs featuring Disney’s favorite characters and stories.

The room’s existing digital key feature will continue to be available specifically on the My Disney Experience app, which helps guests streamline their arrival using the online check-in service, by going directly to the Disney Resort hotel room and using the phone to unlock the door.

Guests at the Disney Resort hotel can also pick up a Key to the World card at any time by visiting the front desk. These have recently changed their design, as more guests are expected to use them now.
