FRISCO – Kellen Moore is the Crown Prince of the State of Boise. Would the Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator want to be the King of the Broncos?
According to several reports, Moore was interviewed for the job, and a source told CowboysSI.com earlier this week: “I bet Kellen is the first choice (from the state of Boise). ”
Logic suggests that if Moore is Boise’s first choice, and if he is interested enough to take a break from his Cowboys assignments to interview …
Bryan Harsin left the blue field of Idaho for Auburn, leaving a spot that the Broncos Boosters would certainly like to fill with Moore, considered at 32 to be one of the young and brilliant minds in the game, regardless of the past – and considered even more special in Boise, with his regional draw from the start (he is from Washington state), his success on the pitch while there (he is the most winning quarterback of all time in college football history with a 50-3 record) and his success in NFL (moving from a brief playing career as a reserve for his outstanding Dallas show).
Adds a football guru connected to uber Gil Brandt, the Professional Football Hall of Fame, via Twitter: “The job in Boise State is one of the best in America. Great facilities, support management, you can easily recruit West Coast, great place to raise a family. … Kellen Moore would be an excellent choice. ”

Despite Moore’s stature, he is not particularly revealing about his personal thoughts. But this week, coincidentally, he was asked about Dallas linebacker Sean Lee eventually going to coaching, and Moore, in a rarity, told a story about himself.
In the summer of 2018, he was on vacation in Hawaii with his wife Julie when then Cowboys coach Jason Garrett called to offer him a job on the team.
“We were looking at the Pacific Ocean and deciding, ‘Do we really want to go back to this routine?’ ‘Said Moore. ” But no, I felt lucky. Obviously, I felt that I was fortunate to be in a smooth transition to a really good opportunity. “
It has been a smooth and successful path, in part because of Jones’ faith in Moore. Sources say Moore, despite his quiet demeanor, has accumulated power here within The Star – power allowed by the Joneses. When did new head coach Mike McCarthy come on board and expressed a desire to retain Moore (one of the few Garrett employees who even got an interview with the new head coach)?
More power for Moore.
The concept is being taken so seriously here at The Star that coach Mike McCarthy found himself tackling the issue on Wednesday.

“I haven’t talked to Kellen about it yet, which is not unusual. Wednesday is a busy day when you’re putting a game plan in place,” McCarthy said. “But, I’m sure, if there’s anything to talk about, we’ll definitely talk about it. I think with anything (involving) career advancement, you just deal with these opportunities individually.”
Cowboys don’t have to worry about Moore leaving until the end of the season. As we discussed this week in 105.3 The Fan, employee Doug Nussmeier can be a qualified replacement as a coordinator. And McCarthy himself is an excellent interlocutor.
Moore is reportedly at the end of his Dallas contract, but that’s not really a problem. Nor, if our source is correct, is the desire for Boise State a problem (although some may argue that his position as athletic director must be filled before hiring a coach). The question is what Julie and Kellen Moore – high school boyfriends at home – want (college vs. professionals, prom success, hard recruiting) … and how much Jerry Jones will fight to help the Moores decide to stay.
People around The Star, due to Jerry’s love for Moore, referred to the young coach as “Jerry’s Tom Landry III”. (Garrett, of course, was Jones’ first “Next Landry”.)
And that is what it all came down to: Kellen Moore wants to be the next Broncos king in Boise? Or the next Landry of the Cowboys in Dallas?
