Brazil fine Apple for not including charger with iPhone 12

When launching the iPhone 12 series last year, Apple announced that it would stop offering charging adapters and headphones inside the box from now on, for environmental reasons. He added that he would be reducing carbon emissions by not making these products. However, Apple now faces the ire of the Brazilian consumer protection agency, Procon-SP, for this decision.

Procon-SP fined Apple R $ 2 million for not including a charger in the iPhone 12 series cases. He claimed that Apple is deceiving consumers with its advertising and charging them under unfair terms. Asked Apple about not reducing the cost of the phone even when the charger is not included.

The executive director of Procon-SP, Fernando Capez, said that Apple needs to understand that there are solid consumer protection laws and institutions in Brazil. While an iPhone 12 Mini costs $ 729 in the United States, it costs about $ 1270 in Brazil. Apple has yet to comment on these charges.
