Braden Holtby, who screams internally, is fed up with the terrible Canucks defense

You have to feel for the former capital Braden Holtby.

Vancouver Canucks was defeated by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. The Leafs scored five consecutive goals before Brock Boeser scored an inconsequential PP scorer at the end of the third period. The Leafs won 5-1 and improved to 9-2-1, while the Canucks fell to an unpleasant 6-9.

To be honest, Vancouver’s defense has been atrocious this season. Players often seem lost in the system game and today was no different.

Three goals in particular summed up the Canucks’ night very well tonight.

Here is Wayne Simmonds open in front of the net in a PP.

Here is Auston Matthews surrounding a cone-shaped Canucks defender.

Here’s Matthews scoring again after JT Miller kind of gave up after Holts missed the boards.

Holtby’s body language said it all after Auston scored again. He’s like Scotty, take me anywhere but here.

“Everything looks difficult for our team,” concluded Canucks coach Travis Green according to Thomas Drance of The Athletic. “It is not being easy and it may be something mental.”

Vancouver is the country with the most goals in the championship (60). His four goals per game are the second worst only for the Ottawa Senators (4.33 GA / GP). The riddled defense caused Braden Holtby’s defense percentage to drop (87.7 percent) and fall below the line of hockey goalkeeper Mendoza (90%).

This meme sums up the defense of the Canucks very well.

During the off-season, Holtby bet on himself and signed a short-term contract with Vancouver, probably to have a chance to recover the money lost later due to the pandemic and a bad defensive year in Washington. Instead, it seems that his new team prefers to play brilliantly than good system hockey.

In conclusion:

Poor boy.
