Boy, 14, allegedly hit and killed while the driver was wounded by a firearm after a fight

The female driver who was shot remains in the hospital in critical condition.

A 14-year-old boy was run over and killed by a 20-year-old woman who suffered a gunshot wound after a physical fight with the teenager, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Hillsborough County sheriff’s office, officers found that the female driver and the teenager had gotten into a physical fight just minutes before the boy was run over. Authorities say the driver of the vehicle was involved in the initial confrontation.

“At some point, shots were fired at the driver, the Hillsborough County sheriff’s office said in a press release. “The woman, in her early twenties, was transported to the emergency room at Citrus Park, where she is currently in critical condition.”

The 14-year-old boy died after being hit by the vehicle, but it is not clear whether he died at the scene of the accident or was taken to hospital.

“We are extremely saddened by the tragedy that resulted from a meaningless fight,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “A child is dead because of the irresponsible actions of adults who were involved in a verbal dispute and allowed it to escalate. Our detectives are suing the scene, interviewing witnesses and working to determine who fired the shots. At the moment, no arrests was done was done and the reason is under investigation. Those who have seen or heard something are encouraged to perform.

It is not known whether the two people involved in the incident knew each other, but the case is still under active investigation and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with information to contact them regarding the case.
