Both sides have the last chance to talk about the abortion ban in SC

COLOMBIA, SC (AP) – The public is having a chance to testify before South Carolina lawmakers about a bill that would ban abortion once the fetal heartbeat is detected. About 50 testified in person and online on Wednesday before a House subcommittee on the project. The measure would ban abortion when a fetal heartbeat is detected, which can occur up to six weeks after conception. This would effectively ban nearly all abortions in South Carolina. The bill passed the Senate last month, after years of setbacks. A House subcommittee moved on Wednesday with three Republicans voting “yes” and two “no” as it moves toward the House floor. The governor said he will sign the bill if he gets to it.
