Boston Dynamics robots detonate a new viral video, Elon Musk takes notice

As 2020 comes to an end, Boston Dynamics’ Atlas, Spot and Handle are conquering the Internet in a new year-end video that showcases their latest skills: dance.

The now viral “Do You Love Me?” the video shows the robots moving to the sound of the song Contours of the same name.

The video drew more than 5 million views on YouTube on Wednesday afternoon.

Many Twitter users were surprised by the dancing skills of the robots compared to the sudden movements of Atlas’ 2016 iteration, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is also a visionary.

“A dog with a snake’s head got my full attention until the ostrich game with the wind head slips through everything indifferent,” tweeted Musk on Wednesday.

A Twitter user said it was “amazing how dancing makes robots less intimidating” and that they are “eager to see more non-trivial machine learning in these robots”. However, Musk had more reservations about the seemingly cheerful video, responding to the tweet with a simple, “Less?”

The billionaire was not the only one with mixed feelings, according to several tweets.

While others celebrated robots and their movements, they can rival other TikTokers.

The robotics firm’s latest dance video comes just two years after Spot played “Uptown Funk”.

Earlier this month, Hyundai acquired control of Boston Dynamics from its previous owner, Softbank. The deal, valued at $ 1.1 billion, gives the automaker an 80% stake in the company. Softbank will take the remaining 20%.

Boston Dynamics plans to expand the Spot product line early next year with a “business version of the robot with increased levels of autonomy and remote inspection capabilities”. It also plans to launch a robotic arm, which will be a breakthrough in mobile manipulation. In addition, the company plans to enter the logistics automation market with the introduction of a mobile warehouse robot in 2021.
