A three-team exchange between the Red Sox, Royals and Mets that would send outfielder Andrew Benintendi to Kansas City is almost complete, sources told Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. The clubs have not confirmed the move, which is awaiting medical examinations and approvals.

If the deal is completed, Red Sox will receive Franchy Cordero and the prospectus RHP Mets, Josh Winckowski. New York would retrieve the Khalil Lee field prospect, sources told Feinsand.

Benintendi, 26, only appeared in 14 games last season after suffering a rib cage injury, but he was runner-up in the AL Rookie of the Year in 2017, when he reduced 0.271 / 0.352 / 0.424 with 20 home runs. He has a career of 107 OPS + over five seasons with the Red Sox, who won a World Series with Benintendi as the daily left fielder in 2018.
