The star, who plays wife Adele in the psychological thriller, said: ‘She goes from zero to one hundred, and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to turn this on right away. I thought I would need something to put me in those emotions.

‘So I asked the prop team to give me a baseball bat and a pillow, and I would just beat that thing whenever I needed to get really pissed. Before taking a shot, I thought, ‘I need the baton! I need the taco! ‘and they ran around trying to find him. It ended up being very therapeutic. ‘

Eve plays David’s mysterious wife (Tom Bateman), who embarks on an affair with the main character Louise (Simona Brown).

Behind Her Eyes is based on the bestselling book by Sarah Pinborough and was adapted for the Steve Lightfoot series.

One of Eva’s most notable roles to date has been starring alongside Sean Penn and Frances McDormand in This Must Be the Place.
