Boba Fett is getting his own epic Star Wars crossover series at Marvel

It’s not a stand-alone film trilogy, but Star Wars fans have finally had their rebirth from Boba Fett. The character returned to the franchise canon in The Mandalorian in season 2, he will have his own live action show in late 2021 and, as revealed by Marvel on Tuesday, Son of Jango will soon be conducting his own comic series for the first time.

StarWars.com broke the news that Marvel Star Wars writer Charles Soule would play the character in the new miniseries Bounty hunters’ war. The story takes place shortly after the capture of Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back, and is described as “an epic crossover in the Merry Marvel tradition”. The event will bring together Soule with Greg Pak (Darth Vader), Alyssa Wong (Doctor Aphra), and Ethan Sacks (Bounty hunter)

“The main story we’re dealing with is an epic crime focused on Boba Fett, which involves Boba Fett facing some of the heaviest hitters in the galaxy. It’s Jabba the Hutt. It’s Black Sun. It’s Darth Vader. And a lot of others – factions and so on – that I think will be really interesting for the fans, ”Soule told StarWars.com in a new interview. “It’s basically Boba Fett, alone, against all these people.”

Fett is no stranger to comics, having appeared in Star Wars: Dark Empire II and several one-shot adventures in the 1990s, courtesy of Dark Horse, and another one-shot in 2019 as part of Marvel-Disney’s property makeover. Soule was instrumental in that effort. As of 2016, the writer wrote a standalone series by Poe Dameron, followed by a book by Darth Vader and a miniseries by Kyle Ren. In 2020, he shifted his focus to Marvel’s flagship Star Wars comic. With the JJ Abrams sequel trilogy now available, Marvel Comics did its best to connect the dots of tradition – that’s why Vader met The Eye of Webbish Bogg during the Empire Strikes Back Timeline. Now Fett will have his own transformative moment.

In addition to the comic book series, Fett will also return to the screens in 2021 in Boba Fett’s Book. Actor Temuera Morrison, who played the character alongside Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian season 2, will resume its role as an old bounty hunter who, based on the post-credit scene, goes to Tatooine to shake things up at Jabba’s Palace. The show is due in December.

War for bounty hunters it will arrive before hand. Beginning in May 2021, the series is scheduled to last through October.

Bounty hunters’ war it’s a story about Boba Fett doing his job, but it turns into something much bigger, and that’s what the best comic crossovers and great stories do, ”says Soule. “They tell a great story for themselves, but they are also the beginning of something and open many new doors. And this story is sure to do that. “
