Board of Trustees approves more football contracts

The South Carolina Board of Trustees set aside time during their annual retreat to talk about sports. The Council announced the approval of four more football contracts for the first year’s head coach Shane Beamer, including both its coordinators. Two detained assistants also received a salary increase.

Gamecocks now have eight of their 10 technical assistants under contract, as well as strength and conditioning coach Luke Day, who left the Marshall football program to join Beamer in South Carolina. Each coach is on campus this week, starting preparation for the 2021 season.

Beamer also officially has the leaders on either side of football. Offensive Coordinator Marcus Satterfield joins the program after a year with the Carolina Panthers. Defensive Coordinator Clayton White comes to Columbia after three years in Western Kentucky in the same position. Special teams coordinator Pete Lembo his contract was approved as coordinator of special teams on January 4th.

Running Backs Coach Des Kitchings and linebacker trainer Mike Peterson, who were earning $ 300,000 a year, saw their salaries increased to $ 420,000 a year. Both have two-year business.

All four coaches signed their terms, meaning that they are now under contract with South Carolina. Beamer still has two more vacancies in the field to fill in his technical team. Beamer had his contract officially approved by the Board of Trustees on December 15 and will make $ 2.75 million a year each year for the duration of the five-year agreement. Beamer, a first-time coach who returned to South Carolina after spending the past three seasons in Oklahoma, was officially announced by Gamecocks on December 6.
