BMW’s iX electric SUV can be as big a change to the cab as it is to the engine below. The automaker offered a preview of the iDrive system on the iX, and the system will focus on semi-autonomous driving and connected cars. Although BMW is vague in the details, it suggests making the most of an “intelligently connected vehicle”, where steering is sometimes automatic and cloud services use real-time data.
The new iDrive also aims to combine “analog and digital technology,” said BMW. This is certainly reflected in the preview photos – the interior of the iX has some concessions for button lovers, but its centerpiece is a wide digital screen setup that includes the instrument panel and infotainment.
