Blue Ridge Bank is selling Bitcoin – Bitcoin Magazine

Banks are increasingly changing their stance towards Bitcoin to meet their customers’ demands, and as of today, you can buy and redeem bitcoin at 19 Blue Ridge Bank ATMs, according to a press release.

“Blue Ridge Bank announced that, for the first time in the history of the United States, a commercial bank is providing access to Bitcoin at its branches,” according to the statement. “Cardholders can buy and redeem Bitcoins at 19 Blue Ridge Bank ATMs, which consist of branch and off-site ATMs.”

Although specific ATMs for bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, where customers can exchange fiat for BTC, have been around for years, this is the first time that a commercial bank has updated its existing ATM network to accommodate bitcoins. All of this was made possible with the help of ATM software provider BTC LibertyX and Blueprint ATM Solutions.

“For years, consumers have asked for the possibility to buy bitcoin from their banks,” said LibertyX CEO Chris Yim, according to the statement. “Now they can also buy bitcoin at their local bank ATM.”

This service to customer demand for access to bitcoin echoes the sentiments of Tesla, which made headlines this week for investing in bitcoin and for revealing plans to accept it as payment.

Bitcoin adoption is increasing, but now it looks like it’s starting to intensify. Who will be next to bend their knees for Bitcoin?
