Blue Jackets about to change a discontented center – The Athletic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – It took just five games and a final dispute with coach John Tortorella for Pierre-Luc Dubois to fulfill his wish.

The Blue Jackets are about to negotiate their disgruntled center number 1, sources told The Athletic on Friday, a deal that is expected to close this weekend, perhaps as early as Saturday.

The Winnipeg Jets are believed to be favorites for Dubois, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger, but Anaheim Ducks, Montreal Canadiens and perhaps another club are also in the mix.

The Blue Jackets informed Dubois that he would be a healthy scratch for the 2pm Saturday game against Tampa Bay at the Nationwide Arena, as long as he was still on the list at the time of the album’s release. This move is not punitive after its lengthy hearing on Thursday, but on asset protection.

Dubois almost certainly played his last game for the Blue Jackets.
