Several people were shot and a man in his late 20s was killed at the Indian Lakes Hotel in Bloomingdale, said Bloomingdale’s director of public security, Frank Giammarese. Most of the injured, four to six people, were transported to local hospitals, he said. There were no updates on their conditions.
No police officers were shot, said Giammarese.
One or more suspects involved may have fled the scene after the shooting, he said.
Many people appeared to be at the hotel, located at 250 West Schick Road, together in some way before the incident, said Giammarese.

On their Facebook page, Bloomingdale police said shortly after 5 am that “there is no known imminent threat to any member of the community” and asked residents to avoid the area.
Police initially responded to a call for shots fired on the hotel’s fifth floor at 2:35 am, officials said.
When the police arrived, several people were seen fleeing the area.
The police brought in more police, including policemen from neighboring cities, after they found several victims.
“As the night progressed, the march started to get more and more. The next thing you know, they are on SWAT … some serious equipment, and they are coming in,” said Andy Pesek, who was passing by the hotel around 3 am “And they’re yelling at me, ‘keep driving, keep driving!'”
In a Facebook statement, Bloomingdale Mayor Franco Coladipietro said he and the Village Board shared their concerns about the hotel’s lack of consistent security in recent years.
“The unfortunate incident that occurred this morning may have been avoided if security had been present as the First Hospitality Group had promised at our meetings. Our investigation confirmed that no security was on duty at the time,” said Coladipietro.
He went on to say that he instructed the team to begin revoking all licenses for the hotel to operate in Bloomingdale.
“We are now initiating a legal process to eliminate this threat to our community,” he said.
DuPage County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Justin Kmitch confirmed that the Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigation team was also called.
No one was in custody in connection with the incident until Saturday.
Anyone with information about the incident should call Bloomingdale Police at 630-529-9868.
The Indian Lakes Hotel did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the incident.
