Bloomberg: State-of-the-art MacBook Pro to offer enhanced displays and faster charging with MagSafe

After today’s report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo outlining the main changes for the next generation MacBook Pro models that will launch in the third quarter of this year, BloombergMark Gurman of the company weighed in with his own report corroborating some of the details, but apparently differing slightly in others.

First, Gurman shares more details about the return of charging MagSafe to the MacBook Pro, indicating that it will actually have a design similar to the previous incarnation of agMagSafe‌ on Mac notebooks. Gurman also says that switching to dedicated ‌MagSafe‌ loading will allow speeds of faster loading times.

Gurman says the new MacBook Pro models will, unsurprisingly, continue to support USB-C, with two USB-C ports located next to the ‌MagSafe‌ port and probably two more USB-C ports on the other side of the machine.

BloombergThe report also offers information about the screens of the next MacBook Pro models, indicating that they will use “brighter and more contrast panels”. The machines will also come equipped with Apple silicon chips, offering more processing cores and improved graphics compared to the M1 found in Apple’s first batch of silicon Macs.

As for the design of the new MacBook Pro models, Kuo indicated that they would be redesigned in the style of the iPhone 12 with flat edges, but Gurman seems to downplay the importance of any changes, indicating that they will “look like” models, but with “minor changes in design “.

Gurman also says that Apple “tested” versions of the MacBook Pro without the Touch Bar, while Kuo seems more definitive that the controversial feature will be removed from the final design.

Finally, Gurman notes that Apple is also planning a redesign for the MacBook Air, but that won’t come until “much after” the debut of the updated MacBook Pro models.
