According to authorities, the police were dispatched shortly after 2:30 pm to a house on 14 Mile Road, near Main Street and Washington Avenue, after reports of a shootout. They teamed up with officers from the Troy and Royal Oak police departments.

The police found a teenager who had been shot by her stepfather and she was transported to a hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.

“I was a young girl involved. I saw her being carried out of the house by three policemen, ”said neighbor Ryan Henahan. “My understanding is that she was shot in the back.”

Police said the suspect fled a neighbor’s house and barricaded himself inside his own home.

Police said a neighbor who was trying to help the teenager was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital.

“I believe, as far as I know, there was a lady who lived next to me, she was shot in the knee,” said Henahan.

When the police were unable to communicate with the suspect, Oakland County SWAT staff, negotiators and a psychologist were called to the scene for assistance.

Police said it was not possible to communicate with the suspect and, after several hours, the suspect’s body was found using the drone.
