Blizzard Entertainment has released the biggest update to its online platform, Battle.net, “in years”.
Battle.net has been Blizzard’s Internet portal for its games since the launch of Diablo in 1996. Since then, it has also become an initiator for all modern Blizzard games. It is also home to some other Activision Blizzard games, including the recent Call of Duty and Destiny 2 titles at a time when Activision Blizzard was its publisher.
Blizzard has been testing this new layout for Battle.net for several months for those who opted for the platform’s beta. It is now the standard version of the launcher.
Battle.net 2.0 adds a new layout with a larger news section and an expanded social tab. It also adds new accessibility options, including browsing most of the launcher with just a keyboard. It also adds a new notification hub that should make it easier to see messages from friends and find out when a game or update has been downloaded.
For now, the update is being released in parts of North America. It will reach other regions in the coming weeks.
