The Rays will receive four candidates in return, including southpaw Luis Patiño, San Diego’s third potential candidate. According to MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal, the other three candidates are Francisco Mejía, Blake Hunt and Cole Wilcox. The clubs have not confirmed the deal, which is awaiting physical examinations.
Snell won the 2018 AL Cy Young Award and spent his first five seasons at Majors with Tampa Bay.
