Blake Shelton defends his song Minimum Wage after a negative reaction: ‘I’m proud of it’

Blake Shelton is defending his controversial new song Minimum Wage, after facing a flood of reactions and being accused of being ‘deaf to tones’.

The lyrics of the 44-year-old country star in question are: ‘Girl, looking at you looking at me like that / It can make a man feel rich on a minimum wage.’

Many people criticized the song because of the lyrics sung by Blake, rumored to be worth about $ 100 million, during the COVID-19 pandemic, with many Americans out of a job and countless closed deals.

In an interview with CMT, Shelton said: ‘We are at a point where we don’t even deserve an answer. That’s why I didn’t go out initially and say nothing, because they are not entitled to an answer from me. This is absolutely ridiculous. ‘

“I feel that, currently, there are people out there who don’t want to know the truth,” he added to the CMT.

‘They just want to hear what they want and want to start a fight.’

‘No matter what their intention is, no matter what the truth, they want it to be something they can be upset about so they can get on social media and try to make a headline.’

He continued, ‘Wow, I think I just missed something here. Whatever the reaction, there are only four or five people who probably don’t know anything about country music. ‘
