Blake Griffin six times All-Star decided to sign with the Brooklyn Nets after he was bought by the Detroit Pistons.
Griffin, 31, explained in an AMA with Bleacher Report why he chose the Nets over the Los Angeles Lakers.
The NBA Rookie of the Year 2010-11 cited their relationship with the great Nets man, DeAndre Jordan (the two played together at the Los Angeles Clippers), and the need for the Nets in the striker position as reasons for their decision .

“They need four men,” wrote Griffin. “I’ve always had a lot of respect for Steve Nash and all the guys that they have. Sean Marks did a great job there. It was a difficult decision and I wanted to be on a team that was struggling. “
The Lakers currently have a need to move forward with Anthony Davis, but Griffin may not have played a role in the Lakers’ rotation in the long run.
The Nets are 24-13 and are the second seed in the Eastern Conference. The Lakers have the same record as Brooklyn, but are currently third in the West.
This season, Griffin has averaged 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
It is possible that Lakers and Nets will meet in the NBA finals, but Griffin’s ability to fit into the Brooklyn squad will be crucial to the Nets going forward.
