Blake Griffin a free agent after purchasing the Pistons

Blake Griffin will be free to sign with the Nets or other interested NBA team after agreeing to a purchase contract with the Detroit Pistons.

Nets are “considered [the] leaders ”to add Griffin, Shams Charania from The Athletic tweeted, adding “interested rival teams are waiting for Griffin to choose [Brooklyn] as a title favorite for the chance to win a championship. “

Lakers, Heat, Warriors and Clippers – your old team – are among those who have also expressed interest, according to the New York Times.

Griffin, 31, has not played since February 12, while the Pistons tried to trade him before the March 25 deadline, but found no buyers due to the rest of his $ 36.6 million salary for this season and the $ 39 million that he owed for 2021-22.

The Nets have won 10 of their last 11 games to enter the All-Star range with the second best record of the Eastern Conference (24-13), half way behind Philadelphia.

Kevin Durant lost the last nine games due to a hamstring injury, and Steve Nash mainly employed a smaller team with 6-4 Bruce Brown playing as a striker.

Durant will be out of Sunday’s All-Star Game, but the Nets will still be represented by guards Kyrie Irving and James Harden.
