Austin, Texas – We are listening to the ex-coordinator of special security teams from Texas and current Ole Miss Blake Gideon is receiving serious consideration for being part of Steve Sarkisian’s team, several sources confirmed to Horns247. At this point, we were unable to define the specific role for which Gideon is being considered, but it is unlikely that he would refuse the opportunity to come to Texas. According to a source close to the situation, Sarkisian is “in discussions” with Gideon at the moment.
A source told Horns247 that Gideon always wanted to “go home” in Texas, which is well known among those living in Oxford. The source indicated that while Ole Miss’s team would miss Gideon’s presence as coordinator of special teams and his recruiting efforts, Gideon’s desire to return to his hometown would be difficult for Ole Miss to match.

Gideon spent the last year as part of the Lane Kiffin team at Ole Miss with the title of assistant coach and coordinator of special teams. Under Gideon’s direction, the rebels were the third best in the SEC in early returns, with their average 23.95 return yards ranked 23rd nationally in the 2020 season.
