Black Ops Cold War’s DMR is so powerful that it makes Warzone “impossible to play”, say fans. • Eurogamer.net

If you have been playing Call of Duty: Warzone recently, you will no doubt have encountered – or possibly even used – the controversial DMR 14.

DMR 14, a weapon added to the battle royale as part of Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War integration, is currently dominating the Warzone goal. Mastering is a very gentle way of putting it – DMR is considered essential to success and is absolutely everywhere.

The DMR 14 is a semi-automatic tactical rifle, with a higher rate of fire and minimum recoil. It is devastating in the long fury, maintaining reliable damage to knock enemies down in the blink of an eye.

The DMR is so powerful that it can eliminate a squad in a matter of seconds, just a few well-placed blasts of fire, causing the kind of damage that other weapons need continuous fire to hit. The DMR also excels at the type of range you want for combat in Warzone – enough distance to catch enemies without them having time to react.

It is really impossible to play now. RIP Warzone, season 1 of r / CODWarzone

Warzone has had weapons considered dominated before, of course, but what the emergence of DMR has highlighted is a new problem within the game: the balance of weapons unbalanced by the integration of weapons from a totally different game.

Black Ops weapons from the Cold War are currently dominating the Warzone goal, which was something the community predicted would happen. The Black Ops Cold War MAC-10 SMG is seen as the best short-range option currently in the game, with the Black Ops Cold War Diamatti pistol in Akimbo form also a popular option.

As expected, memes started. Here is a snippet:

A nerf is expected and I’m sure it will come, but there is a feeling that the Cold War Black Ops weapons will continue to dominate in the short and medium term. This is the problem that Warzone is now grappling with. With Infinity Ward leaving Warzone, Raven Software is the current custody. As new weapons are added to Black Ops Cold War for use in the multiplayer built by Treyarch, Raven is tasked with making them work on Warzone. In this context, the balance of the weapon sounds like nightmare work. These weapons are being made to run on two completely separate engines: the one that moves Black Ops Cold War and the one that moves Warzone. Perhaps it was inevitable that the first season of both games would end up causing havoc.

While we wait for a nerf, we may pack a riot shield. Just in case.
