Black Ops Cold War bug allows players to control clouds • Eurogamer.net

Some bugs in Call of Duty spoil the game. Others, well, the sky is the limit.

This new Black Ops Cold War bug allows players to control the clouds – more or less.

A redditor uploaded a clip of the bug in action to the submarine Black Ops Cold War. It happened on the Moscow map when a search and destruction match was about to begin, with the player zooming in and out of his weapon to pass the time during the countdown. Each time the trigger is pulled, the clouds appear to subside and then return to normal size when the trigger is released. The effect looks a bit like the player is pulling the clouds close and away from them with each ADS.

It is certainly one of the most bizarre insects we saw in Call of Duty, and it left me asking questions to drive the Black Ops boxes crazy. Can we, perhaps, control the sun? The moon? The universe itself?

So, what’s going on here?

It appears that the bug has something to do with the game’s field of view. Josh “FoxhoundFPS” Torres from Treyarch, who entered the reddit thread to say that the developer is investigating the bug, pointed to a note on the Black Ops Trello board on FXs becoming misaligned on FOVs above 80.

The entrance to the Trello plate mentions misaligned smoke, zombie eye glow and uranium glows when players’ FOV is set above 80 on Xbox One and Xbox Series X. Maybe it’s time to add clouds to the list.
