‘Black Adam’: Pierce Brosnan will play Dr. Fate Opposite Dwayne Johnson (exclusive)

Brosnan, known for being one of the few actors to inhabit the mantle of James Bond, is the last key member of the production call list that will feature the big screen debut of the Justice Society, DC’s precursor to the League of America. Justice that takes a family and multigenerational approach to heroism. Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone are already dressed.

Black Adam is New Line / DC’s second film after 2019 commercial and critical success Shazam! with the two characters, Shazam and Black Adam, being arch-rivals in the DC Universe. The project is due to start production in April in Atlanta.

The details of the plot are being kept hidden behind a veil of secrecy, as are the details of the character of Marwan Kenzari, the Aladdin and The old guard actor who is also in the cast.

Brosnan will play Kent Nelson, also known as the good Dr. Fate, son of an archaeologist who learned witchcraft skills and received the magic helmet of fate. The character, created by Gardner Fox and Howard Sherman, is one of DC’s oldest characters, first appearing in 1940 More fun comics # 5.

Jaume Collet-Serra, who also directed Johnson alongside Emily Blunt in the Disney film Jungle Cruise, is driving Black Adam. Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions are producing with Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. The project brings together the team behind Jungle Cruise, which is currently scheduled to open on July 30, 2021.

Scott Sheldon of FlynnPictureCo is serving as an executive producer. Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani wrote the most recent draft, with Adam Sztykiel writing the previous draft.

Brosnan is the veteran actor with dozens of credits, although he is best known globally for his smooth and sophisticated approach to James Bond in the 007 films of the 1990s and early 2000s, which grossed nearly $ 1.5 billion.

He also starred in the successful remake of The Thomas Crown case, the first studio project under its Irish production banner DreamTime, as well as the blockbuster Mamma Mia! critically acclaimed films and thrillers The killer and The Phantom Writer.

The actor and environmentalist-philanthropist was most recently seen in the Netflix comedy Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga alongside Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams, and then appears in the musical adaptation of the classic fairy tale Cinderella launching this July.
