A volcano in Iceland is spewing hot lava after 6,000 years of dormancy, causing singer Bjork, who lives just 6 miles away, to erupt with joy.
“SIMS !! , rash !! ”She wrote on Instagram about the dramatic outbreak on the Reykjanes Peninsula, 20 miles southwest of the capital, Reykjavik.
“We in Iceland are sooo excited !!! She dripped.
“We still made it !!! feeling of relief when nature expresses itself !!! enjoy, heat, björk. “
As a “PS”, she included a snapshot of herself from her 2015 “Black Lake” video, showing her kneeling in a volcanic ash pit.
“This photo was taken where the eruption occurred… we shot“ black lake ”there…. 30 minutes from my house, ”she gushed.
The eruption, described as relatively small by local volcanologists, is the first in the area in almost 800 years.
Bjork and his neighbors are unlikely to need to be evacuated because the eruption occurred in a remote valley, about a kilometer and a half from the nearest road.
