Bitpay allows merchants to accept DOGE, 1,800 Coinflip ATMs now list cryptography – Altcoins Bitcoin News

Cryptocurrency service provider Bitpay added dogecoin to its list of supported cryptocurrencies. One of its merchants, the Cuban-owned Dallas Mavericks Mark, became the first in the chain to accept the meme currency. Meanwhile, a major operator of encrypted ATMs, Coinflip, has made dogecoin available for purchase in its 1,800 encrypted ATMs across the country.

Dogecoin added to Bitpay’s list of supported cryptocurrencies

In an official announcement on Thursday, the cryptocurrency service provider detailed:

[Bitpay] today announced the launch of dogecoin payments for merchants and consumers.

Dogecoin started out as an Internet meme. However, it has grown to a market capitalization of nearly $ 10 billion in recent months due to the support of celebrities like Tesla and Spacex CEO, Elon Musk, Snoop Dogg, Gene Simmons and Kevin Jonas.

Bitpay also revealed that “One of the first to adopt cryptocurrency, the Dallas Mavericks will be the first to accept dogecoin”. Mark’s Cuban team has accepted bitcoin as a form of payment for game and merchandise tickets for almost two years.

Before the addition of dogecoin, Bitpay supported cryptocurrencies BTC, BCH, ETH and XRP, as well as currencies in USD, Gemini dollar, Paxos Standard and Binance USD stablecoins. The ad adds:

Mavs use Bitpay to process all cryptocurrency purchases, including tickets and merchandise with all major cryptocurrencies, including BTC, BCH, ETH, USDC, GUSD, PAX and BUSD and now DOGE.

The owner of the Dallas Mavericks, Shark Tank star Mark Cuban, commented: “The Mavericks decided to accept dogecoin as payment for Mavs tickets and merchandise for a very important and impacting reason, because we can … We chose to do it because sometimes in business you need to do things that are fun, engaging and, hopefully, that generate a lot of PR ”.

For those who are not familiar with dogecoin and would like to learn more, Cuban advised: “We encourage you to speak with your teenagers who are at Tik Tok and ask them about it. They will be able to explain everything to you. ”Dogecoin has been pumped several times on various social media platforms, including Tik Tok. The CEO of Spacex and Tesla, Elon Musk, also had his fair share of raising the price of the currency with several tweets.

1,800 Coinflip Crypto ATMs support Dogecoin

An increasing number of cryptocurrency ATMs now support dogecoin. Coinflip, a major operator of encrypted ATMs, announced on Monday that dogecoin is now listed on its network of 1,800 terminals. Coinflip then confirmed on Thursday that “you can buy DOGE for cash at any of our 1,800 Coinflip stores across the country.” CEO Daniel Polotsky said:

Given its growing popularity and recent mass adoption, we are dedicated to ensuring that dogecoin is part of our currency portfolio and encouraging more support for this cryptocurrency in the coming months.
