Bitcoin reaches the all-time high of $ 26,500 in the Saturday Night Fever race

$ 26k! Bitcoin has reached a new historical record, even greater than this afternoon, this morning, yesterday and those broadcast in our countless other ‘historical record’ articles in the past few months, each of which Decrypt, perhaps out of cynicism, thinking can last a long time. But Bitcoin remains, always upward, in balance.

Today, Bitcoin reaches $ 26,557, according to data from the metrics website CoinMarketCap. After limping to $ 25,000 earlier in the day (UTC), Bitcoin jumped from $ 24,923 at 2pm to $ 25,196 and then spent the rest of the afternoon slowly marching to $ 26,000. In a burst of energy, traders at around 8:30 pm raised the price from $ 25,948 to $ 26,557, Bitcoin’s new historic record.

Bitcoin’s price is still $ 26,503 at the time of this writing. This marks an increase of 8.43% in the last 24 hours.

Bitcoin’s market capitalization is currently $ 490 billion. Like Decrypt reported today, Bitcoin has overtaken Visa and Mastercard in terms of market capitalization.

Why Bitcoin rose to the next $ 1,000 range tonight, no one knows. But in recent months, the general consensus is that institutional investors have bought large amounts of Bitcoin. MicroStrategy bought about $ 1 billion in Bitcoin, MassMutual another $ 100 million and SkyBridge Capital $ 25 million.
