Biomutor unveils new trailer and controversial pre-order bonus

BiomutantThe May release date is starting to get closer, and publisher THQ Nordic has released a brand new trailer showing the game’s vibrant worlds and kung fu-inspired action! The trailer was also accompanied by information about the game’s pre-sale incentive: those who pre-order the digital release or collector’s edition will have access to the Mercenary class, which apparently has “a unique combination of advantages”. This class will eventually be available to all players as a DLC, but those who want it for free will have to pre-order any of these versions. Unfortunately, the standard physical release is not included in the promotion.

The latest trailer for the game can be found in the embedded Tweet below.

The pre-order bonus for the game was met with some hesitation from players eager to Biomutant. A commentator noted that the controversy surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 made them hesitate to pre-order future games, which THQ Nordic replied was “understandable”. Other comments expressed disappointment that one class of the game was essentially blocked behind “paid access”, especially since the standard physical release is not included in the promotion. It’s unfortunate, but pre-order bonuses have become an industry standard and it looks like developers and publishers will continue to trust them, as long as players are willing to put money in before launch.

The digital version of Biomutant will sell for $ 59.99, while the collector’s edition will sell for $ 119.99. The collector’s edition comes with the game, as well as a series of extras, including a figurine, A1 fabric art and the soundtrack. There is also a $ 399 Atomic edition that includes these items, but exchanges the figurine for a diorama. It also includes a T-shirt, a SteelBook and a large mouse. There is no information on whether the Atomic version will include the pre-sale incentive or not, but I hope so, given the package price!

Biomutant is scheduled to be released on May 25 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. You can check out all of our previous coverage of the game here.
