Biological Sciences Conference SCBIO 2021 adds speakers> Columbia Business Report

Two speakers joined the schedule of SCBIO’s 2021 life sciences conferences, to be held online from 16-17 February.

Jamie Harper is a vice president at Microsoft who leads the corporation’s higher education and K-12 initiatives, while Bill Stadtlander is the business leader for Verily, a Google subsidiary focused on life sciences and the use of health and intelligence data artificial to improve lives.

The conference, entitled “The Power of Us”, also features Dr. Michelle McMurry-Heath, president and CEO of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization.

Harper also worked for Coco-Cola Co. and Westinghouse Electric Co. and holds degrees from Emory University and Clemson University.

Stadtlander has over 15 years of commercial health experience with previous positions at Ceribell, Element Science, Boston Scientific and McKinsey & Co. He is a graduate of the Wharton School and MIT at the University of Pennsylvania.

Other speakers at the event include Harris Pastides, former president of the University of South Carolina and former president of the SC Institute of Medicine and Public Health; Courtney Christian, senior director of policy and research at PhRMA; Dr. Pat Cawley, CEO of MUSC Health; and Dr. Marjorie Jenkins, dean of the School of Medicine at the University of South Carolina.

The two-day event will feature a virtual exhibition hall showcasing the $ 12 billion SC life sciences industry and the presentation of the South Carolina Pinnacle Life Sciences Award. SCBIO CEO Sam Konduros will do an opening speech and attendees can schedule meetings with industry executives.
