Tyson wrote about working in various jobs to help support her and her daughter
Hollywood – California, Cicely Tyson, who died on Thursday at 96, spoke about his relationship with his daughter in his new memoirs, “Just As I Am”. Choosing to keep her daughter’s real name confidential, she refers to her in the book as “Joan”.

According PEOPLE, Tyson, who married her first husband Kenneth Franklin in December 1942, she gave birth to Joan in February 1943, when she was 18 years old.
The Oscar-nominated actress dedicated her memories to Joan, writing that her daughter was “the one who paid the highest price for this gift for everyone” and signed the dedication, “With love, mom.”

Released on January 26, Tyson’s memoir reached number one on Amazon hours after his death. Published by HarperCollins, the 432-page book is so in demand that it is temporarily out of stock on Amazon, and the site does not indicate when it will be available.
The Kindle version can be downloaded and an audio version, which Tyson narrates along with the Oscar winner, Viola Davis and Robin Miles, is also available on Amazon and other retailers.
Tyson writes in her memoirs that she left her first husband when Joan was just two, emphasizing that although he was a “good man”, she felt “strongly” about her decision.
Determined to give Joan an education that eclipsed hers, Tyson wrote about working in various jobs to help support herself and Joan. Finally, she sent Joan to a boarding school far from her home in New York City and described the great distance between them as painful.

Tyson also disclosed why he rarely spoke about his daughter, explaining: “Joan felt, as a child, that she needed to share me with the world. I give her now, as an adult, what my heart has always wanted to give – my total focus, along with the total measure of her privacy. “

Tyson’s book propelled the inaugural poet, Amanda Gorman’s book, of poetry, “The Hill We Climb”, off the high point. Ironically, in his last message posted on social media, Tyson praised Gorman, thanking him for his “words and light”.
