Billy Baldwin and his wife Chynna Phillips broke the silence about her sister-in-law, Hilaria Baldwin, and her apparent cultural appropriation scandal.
Alec Baldwin’s brother told Page Six in an interview published on Saturday that he has been in contact with Alec since the news after Christmas.
“This is probably a strange and embarrassing moment for Alec and Hilaria,” he told Page Six. “I’ve been texting Alec all the time to make sure he is okay and if he needs anything.”

Meanwhile, Phillips admitted that he feels sympathy for Hilaria.
“I feel terrible. Who’s going to throw the first stone at my sweet sister-in-law?” she said. “She is a good woman and you know that none of us are perfect. We all have problems.”

Hilaria was called on Twitter last week for “pretending” to be Spanish. It was revealed that she was born and raised in Boston, not in Spain, as she suggested.
She was also criticized for her Spanish accent, which fluctuated noticeably over the years when she made TV appearances and it was also discovered that her real name is “Hillary”.

In an interview with The New York Times, Hilaria responded to claims of cultural appropriation.
“The things I shared about me are very clear,” said Baldwin. “I was born in Boston. I spent time in Boston and Spain. My family now lives in Spain. I moved to New York when I was 19 and have lived here ever since. For me, I feel like I have spent 10 years sharing this story over and over . And now it seems that it is not enough. “
