Mitchell Trubisky has two playoff performances in his four-year NFL resume. It was not enough that he had a chance to start in 2021. It was also not enough to get a significant contract as a reserve.

According to a source with knowledge of the terms, Trubisky’s contract with the Bills is for one year and $ 2.5 million. He receives a signing bonus of $ 500,000 and a base salary of $ 2 million, $ 1.5 million of which is fully guaranteed.

The contract includes up to $ 2 million in game time incentives, passer rank, completion percentage, touchdowns and post-season play time. Obviously, these things will only happen if incumbent Josh Allen gets hurt.

It is not known what Trubisky was offered elsewhere, if anything. The 49ers were supposed to be interested. Regardless of the total team list, the financial terms of the final deal are surprisingly low for a player who was the second overall choice in the draft.

Four years ago, Trubisky received a signing bonus of $ 19.25 million in a contract that paid more than $ 29 million in four seasons. Despite taking the Bears into the postseason twice in three years, he is now a long way from that kind of money and will need to find a way back to the field in Buffalo or elsewhere before he can get back to that level.
