Bills elevate Kenny Stills to AFC vs. Chiefs

Josh Allen will have a new weapon when facing the Kansas City Chiefs.

Buffalo Bills announced on Saturday that it is raising wide receiver Kenny Stills from its training team for the AFC championship game on Sunday. Cornerback Dan Jackson will be the team’s other training squad upgrade.

Stills is now expected to take action for the first time in a Bills uniform after signing with the team’s training team earlier this month. Prior to that, Stills was released by the Houston Texans after falling out of favor with the team’s attack, posting just 40 yards in reception in his last five games with the combined team.

Stills is in his eighth season in the NFL, having previously played for the Miami Dolphins and the New Orleans Saints. He landed with the Texans as part of the Laremy Tunsil trade.

As far as free-of-season agents and training squad players are concerned, the Bills are getting considerable potential value from the Stills. Prior to the 2020 season, the 28-year-old had an average of 42.7 receptions, 671.3 yards received and 5.1 touchdowns per season in his career with three different teams. All of these numbers would occupy the third place in the body of bills this year.

Usually used as a big play burner, it is not difficult to see how Stills could fit in an attack led by Allen, owner of one of the NFL’s strongest arms. The receiver is also a potential need for Bills now, as receiver # 2 Cole Beasley (knee) and receiver # 3 Gabriel Davis (ankle) have recently dealt with injuries.
