Bill Gates wants to do his part to try to reduce the impact of global warming. He has just published a book on climate change. It turns out that he also changed parts of his life to reduce carbon emissions.

In Gates’ last Ask-Me-Anything session on Reddit on Friday, a user asked Microsoft co-founder what people can do to reduce their carbon emissions. Among other things, he recommended that people consume less.

Another user responded by asking what he is doing to consume less.

“On the personal front, I’m doing a lot more,” wrote Gates. “I’m driving electric cars. I have solar panels in my house. Like synthetic meat (sometimes!). I buy green aviation fuel. I pay for direct air capture by Climeworks. I help finance electric heat pumps at low cost of housing for replace natural gas. “

In November, Gates made headlines after predicting that more than half of all business trips would go away after the coronavirus pandemic. On Friday, he showed how this can manifest itself in his schedule.

“I intend to fly much less now that the pandemic has shown that we can survive on fewer trips,” he wrote. Microsoft makes the Teams app that allows employees to chat and meet on video calls. Although Gates left Microsoft for the year, he remains a Microsoft investor and still reviews the products the company is developing.

Gates also mentioned programs in which he is involved to promote green efforts.

“I created Breakthrough Energy including the venture fund, Fellows and Catalyst to help with the climate,” he wrote. “For me, innovation is what will allow us to provide services to everyone without emissions.”
