Biker, bear killed in collision on Marion County Road

MARION COUNTY, Florida. A 42-year-old Ocala man and a bear were killed Thursday night in a motorcycle accident in Marion County, Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal accident was reported at 11:02 pm on State Road 40 on State Road 19 near the Ocala National Forest.

The FHP said the man was riding his 1999 Honda motorcycle west on SR 40 when it hit the bear, which was on the west side of the road.

The motorcycle overturned, ejecting the man, who was taken to the hospital and later died, according to a PSF report. The man was not wearing a helmet, the soldiers said.

The bear also died, the soldiers said.
